The audience for this course is adults who are new to facilitating online/distance classes.
Some key skills need for this course:
An openness to learn and experience the differences between being a part of and leading an online class.
Wiliness to explore and using different technology features available in the online classroom,
A desire to improve their teaching skills and adapting those skills to the online classroom environment.
Some key experiences that are expected for future distance instructors:
Future distance instructors could have been in online classes themselves but have not lead a class of online/distance students before.
Future distance instructors should feel comfortable leading discussions around topics they are familiar with. These conversations could be based in a classroom or other less formal setting.
It is assumed that the future distance instructors have:
solid understanding of working with adult learners
key knowledge of the content they are going to be teaching
background in facilitating learning, regardless of setting.
